Laban Rata Rest House (3272 meters above sea level) is the biggest mountain hut among the others at Panalaban Base Camp of Mount Kinabalu, and also where the only restaurant located at. There are four types of room available here, which is Private Room 1 (Buttercup 1), Private Room 2 (Buttercup 2), Private Room 3 (Buttercup 3) and unisex shared non-heated dormitory rooms.
Laban Rata’s private rooms are equipped with en-suite bathroom and sold as a room. Dormitory rooms are fitted with bunk beds, wooden flooring and clean linens, overlooking beautiful sea of fluffy clouds, and of course, amazing sunset if weather permitted. Pillows and blankets are provided, you don’t have to carry your own sleeping bag!
Besides Laban Rata Restaurant, there is a grocery shop (The Goodie Bag Shop) next to the reception counter selling soft drinks, beers, mineral water, socks, panadols and many more. Apart from essential items, Laban Rata also sells a variety of different snacks. You can order ala carte meals outside of meal time at own cost as well. Tea and coffee will be provided during supper and breakfast only, but UV filtered drinking water is available all the time. Please note that Laban Rata only accept cash payment and all purchases must be paid in Malaysian ringgit (MYR). Laban Rata Resthouse practice scheduled power supply (from 5pm-8pm & 1am to 3.30am), as their electricity was powered by generator. Hot shower is not available for all mountain hut due to limited power supply. Toiletries only provided in Private Room, remember to bring personal toiletries with you if you book a dorm stay.
